Bradt knows that it is important to spread the risk instead of focusing on one area or being tied to one large customer. The joinery works for private customers, some of whom have been coming back with an order for decades, as well as for a number of planners and architects from his region. Bradt also works as a supplier to a shopfitting company that plans and builds bakeries. So if you're drinking your coffee in the right bakery on a European city break, you might find your eyes caught by furniture "Made in Detmold". As the interior design of medical practices is also one of the company's core disciplines, this also works when visiting a doctor in Kiel or other places in Germany. The work for Bradt and his team of five is correspondingly varied. In one corner of the workshop are parts of a store fitting that will be shipped across the Atlantic, next to it they are working on a dining table that, in contrast, will only travel around 10 kilometers to provide pleasure in its new location for decades - if not longer. Bradt also takes a pragmatic approach when selecting suppliers. Instead of following well-trodden paths, he searches for the best solution for his project himself. "For the sliding door in a bedroom, I needed a fitting that can move large door leaves, that is also variable in terms of thickness and that has damping on both sides," explains Bradt.
